Dear members,
The circumstances to live a normal life are getting worse and more challenging than any of us could have thought a year ago when we first experienced Covid -19. Despite all the struggle we are experiencing, I feel inner warmth and equanimity. I suppose this is because of the approaching springtime. The increasing daylight and sunny days will make the difference.
During this pandemic, I am so much looking forward to the next holiday season. Easter approaches with its´ beautiful decorations, bright colors, flowers, and traditional seasonal delicacies. The first of May traditions make me smile as well as Mother´s Day, even though my sons are far too grown-up to serve me a breakfast in bed.
Dear ladies, soon we have a great possibility to enjoy and celebrate the International Women´s Day on the 8th of March. For many of us it is a day to get flowers from our loved ones, colleagues, or friends. However, the International Women’s Day is far more than just flowers and compliments. It is a day to reflect on progress made in gender equality, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. I am not surprised that women stand at the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, as well.
UN Women announces the theme for International Women’s Day 2021 as “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.” The theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
